- Shelby is half Swiss and comes from a family of hot air balloon pilots — a background that has sparked her enduring sense of adventure.
- She has completed half a dozen marathons and ultramarathons in five different countries, including an alpine ultramarathon that took over 16 hours to finish.
- Now a small business owner in Vienna, Austria, she enjoys writing about running a business as an expat alongside her travel work.
Experience
Shelby grew up in Orlando, Florida, and although she was named after a car, she can't stand being in one — so, since age eighteen, she has chosen to live in cities known for excellent public transport, including Boston, Washington, D.C., Shanghai, and Montreux. For the past eight years, she has called Vienna, Austria, home. Before turning to self-employment, Shelby taught and led development programs for children at international schools. Today, she works as a freelance travel writer and runs her own business. When she's not writing articles from cozy Viennese coffee houses or traveling the globe, Shelby enjoys exploring fitness classes around the city and catching unique films at independent cinemas.
Education
Shelby has a bachelor's degree in Political Science from Boston University.
