Explaining some of the choices, he added, "We prioritized repeatable savings over one-off anomalies. When prices tied, we favored destinations with more flight frequency and easier airport options."

So if you are looking for an affordable, magical getaway this year, these are some of the best value destinations to look at. We've picked five of the least expensive places to fly to in the U.S., including Denver, Knoxville, Fort Lauderdale, Chicago, and Charlotte. based on Dollar Flight Club's Cheap Flight Forecast.

Denver, Colorado

Denver is a fascinating city, a combination of ultra-modern and historic architecture, rich cultural gems, and outdoor adventure. Although it is often seen mostly as a stopping-off point en route to the ski resorts of the Rocky Mountains, the Mile High City boasts 300 days of sun per year, making it a fantastic destination year-round. Culture lovers are spoiled for choice, with the Denver Art Museum, the River North Art District, and the Clyfford Still Museum, while Larimer Square draws history buffs thanks to its stunning Victorian-era houses.

Denver comes in as one of the pricier destinations to fly to on Dollar Flight Club list but still forecasted to be extremely affordable, with an average predicted price of $110. As Neugarten explains, "Europe's shoulder season pairs well with United States national parks. Keep an eye on Athens, Madrid, and Denver," and suggests March to May as the best time to visit.

Knoxville, Tennessee

Knoxville is a hugely slept-on destination, a city that does so many different things and is one of the best budget city break destinations in America. Tucked away in the foothills of the Smoky Mountains, it is a glorious spot for outdoor adventure, with beautiful forests and mountain landscapes ideal for hiking or biking. The city itself boasts a rich, interesting history, going back to the first Spanish encounters with Native American tribes, and its seven Historic Homes of Knoxville offer a snapshot of this vibrant past, from the city's original fort through to picturesque Victorian architecture. Knoxville is famous for its country music, and it is worth taking a walking tour around the city to see some of the most famous sights or catching a show at the Wagon Wheel.

Dollar Flight Club predicts that airfare to Knoxville will cost $104 on average in 2026, making it an exceptionally good value spot to visit for anyone looking for a fun, varied getaway. Spring is a great time to see the city, while hikers might prefer to visit in the fall to catch the colors of the changing foliage.

Fort Lauderdale, Florida

Often overlooked in favor of its bigger, brasher neighbor to the south, Miami, or the decadent luxury of Palm Beach to the north, Fort Lauderdale is something of an underrated gem. With stunning golden beaches that stretch for miles, artistic neighborhoods like Hollywood, and delightful canals filled with gondolas that earn it the nickname the "Venice of America," it's a superb destination for travelers who want to try something a little different.

According to Dollar Flight Club, it is also the most affordable domestic destination in the U.S. for 2026! Per their predictions, the average cost of a flight to Fort Lauderdale in 2026 will be around $95. They suggest that the best time to fly will be in late January or in September, which is great for anyone looking for a little winter warmth. While Fort Lauderdale isn't predicted to have the absolute rock-bottom price for a flight, it comes out on top due to the regularity of its low fares, meaning it is easier to find lower prices for this destination consistently.

Chicago, Illinois

Chicago doesn't really need much of an introduction. Named the best big city in the U.S. by Conde Nast Traveler nine years in a row and recently ranked as the most beautiful city in the world by Time Out, the Windy City is a cultural icon. It boasts incredible nightlife and stunning attractions like the Goodman Theater, the Chicago Cultural Center, and the Art Institute of Chicago. It's hardly short of famous landmarks, either, with the Willis Tower, Millennium Park, and the Magnificent Mile all must-visit spots.

Dollar Flight Club predicts that the average cost of a flight to Chicago in 2026 will be just $94, making it one of the cheapest destinations on their list. They recommend the time to fly for the best deals will be between April and May or September and October, as the shoulder seasons usually bring the softest prices. While Chicago's weather tends to be on the brisk side in early spring and late fall, September and May in particular are delightful times to visit.

Charlotte, North Carolina

Charlotte is famous as the home of NASCAR and boasts the incredible NASCAR Hall of Fame, a place of pilgrimage for motor racing fans, but it is far more than just fast cars. The Queen City is a refined, elegant, sophisticated urban hub. It's the second-largest financial center in the United States after New York and is filled with great food, interesting art, and culture. The Levine Museum of the New South offers a fascinatingly nuanced take on post-Civil War history in the South, while Discovery Place lets visitors take a deep dive into some of the most interesting and important experiments and discoveries in the history of science and technology.

With an average price of $92 per flight, Charlotte is also the cheapest destination on Dollar Flight Club's Cheap Flight Forecast list. Similarly to Chicago, the team recommends visiting in the spring or the fall for the best fares, and the weather in both seasons is lovely.
