Georgia's New Water Park Opening In 2026 Is Packed With Wholesome Family Fun Near Atlanta
If you're looking for somewhere to escape the typically hot and sunny Georgia weather this summer, the new Henry County Aquatic Center should provide some welcome relief. Set for its grand opening in June 2026, the $55 million aquatic center and water park in McDonough is just 30 miles south of Atlanta and will make a fun family day out for visitors and residents alike.
The new water park is expected to boost tourism to the region, as well as provide an aquatic center that caters to all levels and abilities, while supporting community programs and school events. Facilities will include indoor and outdoor pools, a range of slides and water features, and a rooftop bar with lakeside views. Local official and District 5 Commissioner Kevin Lewis showed his enthusiasm for the project, saying in an official video, "Cannot wait for this to open. They're doing great work, great progress so far." He added, "I'm super excited about what's in store for everyone."

Inside Henry County Aquatic Center
The water park will have plenty of activities to keep you and the kids busy, and it could become one of the best water parks in the U.S. Outdoors, four colorful slides descend from a 30-foot tower: An open tube, a closed tube, a speed slide, and a four-person mat racer offer shared laughs with friends and family. A wave rider for wannabe surfers adds to the excitement, or you can take it easy and float along the lazy river. For those who just want to chill, cabanas are available to rent next to the outdoor pool. The kiddie pool, with its range of fun-filled obstacles, should make a splash with younger visitors.
Inside, the Olympic-size swimming pool is a major draw for serious swimmers. It will host competitions, swim meets, and events for local schools, with stadium seating for up to 800 people. Not just for the younger generations, an ADA-compliant, therapeutic, multi-purpose pool will provide a quieter space for attendees, including seniors and visitors with disabilities, and will feature classes like water aerobics and aquatic yoga. When you're ready for a break, there's a concessions area with space for food trucks, or you can head up to the rooftop bar.
If you're sold on the idea and already planning a visit, the aquatic center will be open Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. until 8 p.m., and on Saturdays from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Hours for the water park vary. Entry fees for the water park are $25 for Henry County residents and $35 for non-residents, and include access to the aquatic center. Seasonal passes will be available starting in 2027.
