This Major US Airline Is Introducing More Flight Routes Along The West Coast

Whether you're a frequent flyer or taking your first trip, having access to multiple flight routes within the United States makes travel simple, convenient, and time efficient. Domestic travel lets you explore new states without the need for a passport and makes it easier to reconnect with friends and family across the country, which adds to the ease and enjoyment of traveling within the U.S. With this in mind, Alaska Airlines is expanding its west coast flight routes, giving travelers even more reasons to grab their bags and set off on new adventures.

Set to launch between October 2025 and January 2026, Alaska Airlines is significantly expanding its flight network by adding seven new routes along the west coast. This strategic expansion is designed to enhance connectivity and convenience for travelers heading to and from the Pacific Northwest and California. If you're planning a weekend getaway to take in the beautiful Pacific Northwest coastline, visiting loved ones, or traveling for business and looking for the best day trips from Los Angeles, these new routes aim to make air travel more seamless, efficient, and accessible. With increased options and greater flexibility, passengers can look forward to shorter travel times, more direct flights, and easier access to some of the West Coast's most popular destinations, all while enjoying the comfort and service Alaska Airlines is known for.

Alaska Airlines launches seven new routes to boost west coast travel

With low-cost airline Avelo Airlines preparing to exit the West Coast market at Hollywood Burbank Airport (BUR), Alaska Airlines is seizing the opportunity to meet rising demand for travel across the Pacific Northwest and California. With the introduction of seven new routes, three of which will depart directly from Hollywood Burbank to destinations in Oregon and Washington, Alaska Airlines is making it easier than ever to visit the West Coast, including offering winter season routes to San Diego and Sun Valley, Idaho.

Five of the new routes will operate year-round, while two are set to run seasonally during the winter months. From Hollywood Burbank Airport (BUR), travelers can fly to Eugene (EUG), Pasco (PSC), and Redmond (RDM) in Oregon and Washington. Additional routes include Palm Springs (PSP) to Santa Rosa (STS), San Diego (SAN) to Sun Valley (SUN), Boise (BOI) to Ontario (ONT), and Spokane (GEG) to Orange County (SNA), expanding Alaska Airlines' reach across the West Coast and beyond.

Kirsten Amrine, vice president of revenue management and network planning at Alaska Airlines, has said in a press release that "we're the only global airline based on the West Coast, and we're proud to offer the most flights and seats between California, Washington and Oregon." Amrine also mentions that "these new additions further expand our ability to take our guests between growing markets in California and the Pacific Northwest for leisure and business travel." With this expansion, the airline offers more options for you to visit some unexpected West Coast destinations for family fun and adventure

Non-stop routes and some added perks of flying with Alaska Airlines

Starting on October 26, 2025, four of the new routes from Alaska Airlines will go into effect. The three routes from Hollywood Burbank to Eugene, Pasco, and Redmond will operate year-round from this date. The Palm Springs to Santa Rosa route is also set to launch on October 26, however that route will only fly during the winter months and only be scheduled five times a week.

Wine lovers rejoice! Palm Springs will now be Alaska Airlines' eighth destination from Santa Rosa, which is the heart of wine country in California. Whether you're traveling with one bottle or a whole case of your favorite pinot noir, Alaska Airlines offers its "Wine Flies Free" program, which allows passengers on Alaska flights to check up to an entire case of wine for free when flying from 32 West Coast cities. In an economy where freebies are rare, this is a fantastic way to bring home a delicious souvenir from your wine country getaway, without the extra cost.

Operating three times a week during the winter season, the San Diego to Sun Valley route is scheduled to launch on December 18, 2025, perfect for skiers who want to escape Southern California for the slopes in Idaho. On January 7, 2026, two new routes (Boise to Ontario and Spokane to Orange County) will strengthen Alaska Airlines' presence in the Los Angeles area. With service to LAX, Burbank, Orange County, and Ontario, Alaska will offer many more connections between Southern California and Boise than any other airline. For Spokane travelers, the addition of Orange County opens up broader and more convenient travel options to the LA area.
