John Denver Is Back (On Commemorative Skis)

If you can't already tell from this old school video, John Denver really loved to ski.

The 70s musician, who became famous for songs such as "Rocky Mountain High" and "Sunshine on my Shoulders," was not only a popular singer and guitarist, but also an avid outdoorsman. He brought international attention to Colorado skiing and his contribution may soon be honored with a spot in the state's ski and snowboard hall of fame.

Meanwhile, on the 15th anniversary of Denver's death, the John Denver Estate is teaming up with Icelantic to create commemorative some skis. For $699, you can grab a set of the all-mountain limited-edition John Denver model available in three different lengths (161, 171 and 181 centimeters).

The artwork for the ski was created by Icelantic artist Travis Parr. Members of the John Denver Estate and Parr went through old photos of Denver in the Colorado wilderness until they found the perfect shot. The design (below) is based off of the photograph.
