Last Minute Labor Day Weekends Worth the Splurge

Labor Day marks the unofficial end of the summer, and for many people it's probably their last chance to take a long weekend getaway.

We understand that, unfortunately, three days aren't enough to go to Hawaii or travel to a different part of the world. But the good news is that there are tons of destinations within the U.S. that you can go to and celebrate the end of summer.

Stay in luxurious hotels within close proximity to the Labor Day events. Enjoy spa treatments, state-of-the-art fitness centers, heated pools and other high-end accommodations.

New York City, New York

Although this city is known to be a bit pricy, spending Labor Day weekend here is well worth it. Head to New York City for some of the best parties and barbeques in the country. Attend the Great North River Tugboat Race & Competition, party with your friends at Riis Park Beach Bazaar, cheer on America's workforce at the Labor Day Parade and dress up and dance at the West Indian-African American Day Carnival.

Atlanta, Georgia

If you are a sports fan, you will not want to miss Labor Day weekend in Atlanta. Stay at the Hilton Garden Inn Atlanta Downtown for close proximity for watching college football at the Georgia Dome. Stay at the Hyatt Regency Atlanta Downtown for the sci-fi Dragon Con convention. Other fun things to do in Atlanta over the weekend include watching fireworks at Stone Mountain, listing to music at The Atlanta Weekender DJ festival and have fun at the Sky High Hot Air Balloon Festival.

Washington, DC

End your summer with a bang in Washington, DC. Their annual Labor Day Capitol Concert is not to be missed; it's taking place on the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol on September 4 at 6pm. If you're a baseball fan, look no further because the Washington Nationals are facing off against the Atlanta Braves on Labor Day. Other things to do include taking a Segway ride on the National Mall and boating along the C&O Canal National Historical Park. Myrtle Beach, South Carolina
