Canada's National Parks Are Offering Free Admission And Camping Discounts This Summer

Canada, located at the northern end of North America, is one of the world's largest countries. It's home to some of the most breathtaking national parks that planet Earth has to offer. There are stunning island national parks with scenic coastlines and mountains that extend all the way into the clouds. Glacier-fed lakes sparkle in otherworldly shades of blue, and evergreens tower over forest floors. If you've been dreaming of exploring Canada's vast and beautiful wilderness for yourself, this summer might be the perfect opportunity to do so.

Summer is an ideal time to visit Canada. The weather is warm and mild compared to the frigid winters. Throughout the colder months, buckets of snow blanket the ground. Canada is the second-snowiest country on Earth, but during the brief summer season the landscapes thaw and visitors can enjoy strolling through alpine meadows full of brightly colored wildflowers and sunbathing on the beautiful coastlines. Hiking, mountain biking, camping, wildlife viewing, and paddling are just a few popular activities that outdoor recreation enthusiasts enjoy when visiting the country's national parks each summer.

In summer 2026, the Canadian government announced that Canada's amazing national parks will be free for locals and tourists to visit, thanks to its program called the Canada Strong Pass. The program also features discounted rates for camping in the parks. Pack your bags, lace up your hiking boots, and get ready to explore some of the country's most iconic destinations.

Enjoy free entry and camping discounts with the Canada Strong Pass

In order to score free entry and receive discounts on camping in Canada's national parks, all you have to do is take advantage of the Canada Strong Pass offers available this summer. "At a time when costs remain a concern for numerous households, the Canada Strong Pass is one of the ways the Government of Canada is making life more affordable for families and young adults," a press release on the Government of Canada website states. With the Canada Strong Pass, travelers can enjoy free entry to all sites operated by Parks Canada. They will also be able to receive a 25% rebate on camping fees. Discounts for young people to select museums and rail routes are also offered.

The Canada Strong Pass was first offered during the summer of 2025, and it helped increase visitor numbers at national parks and museums. The Canadian government hopes that offering the pass again will also help boost tourism in 2026.

The Canada Strong Pass benefits began on June 19, 2026, and will continue through September 7, 2026. Even better, it is not actually a physical pass that people need to sign up for or present. All you have to do is show up to one of the participating locations during operating hours and you will be granted free admission. Canadian citizens and foreign visitors can both take advantage of the program.

Planning your trip

The Canada Strong Pass will allow you to explore some of the most beautiful places in Canada without paying a dime. All national historic sites, national parks, and national marine conservation areas will be offering free admission this summer as part of the program, according to the Parks Canada website. Usually admission to these destinations costs around 10 Canadian dollars per person, per day. That means you can save a lot of money this summer if you're planning a family vacation.

The Canada Strong Pass is the perfect excuse to finally plan that bucket-list trip to Jasper National Park with its panoramic Rocky Mountain views, or experience Banff National Park's wild and rugged beauty. Cape Breton Highlands National Park, Gros Morne National Park, Mingan Archipelago National Park Reserve, and Gulf Islands National Park Reserve are a few more must-visit spots scattered across the massive country. You'll also be able to check out any of the 171 national historic sites that are managed by Parks Canada.

Camping is a wonderful way to fully immerse yourself in the natural beauty of Canada's national parks. Through September 7, 2026, there is a 25% discount on camping and other accommodations within the parks. The discount also applies to tent sites, RV campsites, and backcountry overnight camping permits. Parks Canada offers some cool unique accommodation options that will also be discounted this summer. Options include cabins, oTENTiks, yurts, MicrOcubes, Ôasis, historic stays, and tipis. Bookings should be made online in advance at the Parks Canada Reservations website.
