The 5 Best Michelin-Starred Restaurants In Atlanta, According To Tripadvisor
Despite being the home of the top-rated airport restaurant in the world, Atlanta hasn't always been seen as a fine-dining destination. Sure, it has always been a place where getting a good meal was no trouble, but the city's reputation was rather more geared towards comfort eating, famous for its rich soul food, BBQ, fried chicken, and Southern hospitality. However, true foodies have always known that underneath the surface, Atlanta boasts an amazing dining scene, and over the last few years, the wider world has started to catch up. Atlanta is now seen as one of the best U.S. cities for food-lovers.
In July 2023, the Michelin Guide announced it was coming to Atlanta for the first time, and since that first trip, there have been nine restaurants that have received a coveted Michelin star, alongside a further 11 worthy of the Bib Gourmand designation. We turned to Tripadvisor to see what visitors, foodies, and fine-dining lovers had to say about Atlanta's booming food scene, and picked the five best Michelin-starred restaurants to visit. Make sure to visit Bacchanalia, Atlas, Lazy Betty, Brush Sushi, or Mujo for an amazing dining experience next time you are in the Big Peach.
Bacchanalia
Bacchanalia is described by Heraton B on Tripadvisor as "more than just a restaurant—it's a reminder that food, at its best, is memory, emotion, and artistry all colliding on a plate." High praise indeed, but well-deserved for this stunning slice of modern American cuisine. The interior decor leans heavily into industrial sophistication, with brown leather furniture lit by the warm flow of Edison bulbs, but the food is far lighter, defter experience. The crab fritter is a crowd-pleasing fan favorite that brings diners back again and again.
Desserts are also exceptional, warranting a special mention by Tripadvisor user Conchobar, who said, "the Soufflé was absolutely spectacular, and I am not a dessert fan." Head chef Anne Quatrano is a James Beard award winner, and her marvelous tasting menu is the highlight of the restaurant. Interestingly, Michelin awarded Bacchanalia a green star, given to restaurants that demonstrate excellence in environmentally-friendly practices, which might make eating here another great way to make your travel plans more sustainable.
Atlas
Hotel restaurants can sometimes disappoint, but this is far from the case with Atlas. Tucked away inside the grand St. Regis Atlanta, this restaurant lives up to and exceeds its glamorous surroundings, is an ideal place for a special celebration, and "without doubt one of the best restaurants in the American South," according to Tripadvisor user E. Joseph D.
Atlas, described as "a real traditional Michelin-starred restaurant" by Kerwin Gray on Tripadvisor, blends classic cooking with exceptional service to provide a vintage, luxurious experience that is sometimes hard to find in modern fine dining. The walls are loaded with artworks from the Lewis Collection, the servers are attired in effortless, elegant style, and the tasting menu is a blend of seasonal American dishes and European influences, which come together to create a well-rounded, complete experience. Standout dishes from Tripadvisor reviews include poached lobster, monk fish with foie gras, and sorghum-glazed duck, with whisky flights in the bar also highly recommended.
Lazy Betty
Lazy Betty has been kicking around the Atlanta food scene since 2019, but really only took flight when it moved from Candler Park to Midtown in 2023, just in time for the first visit by Michelin inspectors to Atlanta. Now, this charming joint run by chef Ron Hsu (of Netflix's "Final Table" fame) and chef/owner Aaron Phillips is one of the highlights of the city's food scene and a worthy recipient of a Michelin star. Tripadvisor user Kerwin Gray says that Lazy Betty is "absolutely excellent. It exceeds most 1*s. And as an admission against interest, it is better than its price point suggests." He goes on to describe the food as "the best...among one-stars and easily even tops some two-stars."
The tasting menu is at the heart of this delightful spot, with delicate dishes like lemon and creme fraiche wrapped in millimeter-thin shavings of tuna singing on the palate, and a wine pairing to match. Make sure you leave room for dessert, as the separate four-course dessert tasting menu is also an exceptional experience. Reservations are a must, but walk-ins shouldn't despair, as the bar serves an à la carte menu, as well as a champagne and caviar service.
Brush Sushi
One of the newer recipients of a Michelin star, Brush Sushi got its place on the list in 2025, primarily in recognition of the restaurant's dry-aged fish program. Tripadvisor reviews mention the truffle cube and the dry-aged vs. fresh fish tasting, as well as the desserts and the sake pairing. But while the restaurant itself is pretty special, it is worth going a little overboard here and trying the O by Brush experience, a private omakase for ten that is truly mind-blowing.
Taking you on a carefully curated journey through the entire menu, chef Jason Liang puts together a combination tasting menu that includes dry-aged hirame, kanpachi, and tamago. Tripadvisor user Mleleanor says, "Prepare to be truly wowed by Jason's skills and ability to put together a menu that appears effortless in presentation but clearly is based on high-level knowledge of his craft." And if you can't get a table here, the chef's second restaurant, Lucky Star in West Midtown, also merits a place on the Michelin Recommended list.
Mujo
A remarkable four of Atlanta's nine Michelin-starred restaurants are Japanese omakase joints, but Mujo might just be the best. Like all good omakase restaurants, the curated menu makes eating here a unique, personalized experience, making it somewhere to come back to time and again (if you are happy to splash the cash!). With only 15 seats at the sushi bar, reservations are hard to come by, but perseverance pays off. A varied and unusual cavalcade of new twists on old favorites is guaranteed, with zensai (Japanese tapas), nigiri, and excellent rolls.
The decor is dark and minimal, with low lighting only increasing the exclusive feel of the experience. Cleo M on Tripadvisor describes it as "the most amazing sushi experience in my lifetime", highlighting how the staff "went out of their way to make their guests feel as if they were dining with family at a lovely home as opposed to a restaurant", and going on call it "sushi as it was truly intended."
