A Historic State Park Along Virginia's James River Has Water Recreation & Scenic Camping

For instance, if you float from Launch A to Maidens, you will have 2 to 3 hours on water as you marvel at the beauty of the surrounding nature. If it is your first time paddling, join the guided paddle programs, which provide guided tours plus a shuttle service to your campsite. For fishing enthusiasts, the Powhatan State Park provides an adventurous fishing experience along the James River. While fishing from the bank is limited, the river's calm waters and diverse fish species make it a worthwhile destination for anglers. Some of the fish you are likely to catch include smallmouth bass, channel catfish, and sunfish.
