This Affordable Airline Just Added Even More Budget-Friendly Routes To Florida
While Allegiant is infamous for having the world's most uncomfortable plane seats, it may just be worth it if you're booking a short jaunt to or from Florida. The popular budget airline is rolling out seven new nonstop routes connecting 12 U.S. cities as part of its ambitious 2025 expansion, with many of the new routes connecting to Florida. Among the standout additions is Fort Myers (RSW), a new destination joining Allegiant's Florida network for the first time, with flights to Des Moines, Iowa (DSM), Appleton, Wisconsin (ATW), and Allentown, Pennsylvania (ABE) — all launching in November. Other routes include new service between Fort Lauderdale (FLL) and Fort Wayne, Indiana (FWA), and a new non-Florida link between Gulf Shores, Alabama (GUF) and Nashville, Tennessee (BNA).
"This expansion reflects our commitment to connecting underserved communities with affordable, convenient travel options," said Drew Wells, Allegiant's chief commercial officer, in an official release. "By adding Fort Myers and increasing service to multiple beach cities, we're providing travelers nonstop access to sunny destinations, meaning they spend less time at the airport and more time on vacation."
This network expansion follows Allegiant's historic rollout of 44 new routes in late 2024, seriously broadening its reach in popular vacay destinations, including Florida beach cities like Sarasota, Orlando-Sanford, and St. Pete/Tampa. Plus, Florida-based travelers now have affordable, direct options to key fly-in vacation hubs beyond the usual hotspots — like New Orleans (from Punta Gorda), Colorado Springs (from St. Pete-Clearwater), and Albany (from Sarasota). For those planning 2025 getaways or weekend escapes, these routes mean more choices, lower fares, and fewer layovers.
How travelers can tap into Allegiant's new Florida bargains
While this popular budget-friendly airline may be ending its service in some cities, including San Antonio, Allegiant is certainly going all-in on Florida. And if you're scouting budget travel options, Allegiant's latest routes are a smart pick. To celebrate the rollout, the airliner has announced it will be offering one-way fares to these destinations for as low as $49.
However, even with budget pricing, travelers should remember that Allegiant's optional extras, like carry‑on fees, seat upgrades, and food and drinks, may affect the final ticket price — the company even charges $5 if you choose to print your boarding pass at the airport. Anyone looking to maximize their budget while traveling should also be sure to check Allegiant's site for bundled fares or car rental offers — the airline often layers deals on ground transport and flight combos.
Allegiant's point-to-point model means shorter airport times and fewer layovers, ideal for short trips or long weekend getaways. And if you're traveling from Europe or Florida's Gulf Coast, don't overlook international hubs like St. Pete-Clearwater (PIE) and Sarasota-Bradenton (SRQ), where Allegiant is offering low-cost service. So whether you're in the Midwest or Mid-Atlantic, Allegiant's expanded Florida footprint makes spontaneous travel easier and cheaper.
