Yodel Like A Pro
If you find this video inspiring, we have good news.
You can now learn this traditional alpine skill on Austria's first yodel hiking trail. Christian Eder, owner of the Castello Hotel and Restaurant, created the attraction to share "the ancient form of alpine communication that is so deeply entwined with Austrian folk music," according to the BBC.
The trail sits above Austria's Zillertal Valley at the top of Königsleitenspitze mountain. It is accessible by cable car from the small village of Königsleiten, and the views of Hohe Tauern National Park provide inspiration for pro and aspiring yodelers alike.
The four-mile trail starts at just over 7,000 feet and winds past five different yodeling stations. At station two, for instance, you'll find a hut shaped like, and filled with, cowbells to accompany your yodeling; the third station features what might be Austria's largest alpine horn; and several spots have audio recordings of some of the region's top yodelers.
You can go with a guide, or yodel solo.
