The Unbiased Tool That Compares Ski Resorts With One Click

Planning a family or a group ski vacation can be a daunting experience. You have to do individual searches if you need more than one feature in a ski resort – one if you care about nightlife entertainment and another if you cared mostly about the terrain.

This is where's new online tool comes in – the Resort Finder. You pick what you are looking for in a destination as well as where you'd like this place to be and you see the results in a second. "This is an independent tool because we are not affiliated with any resort," Dan Sherman, vice president of marketing, says.

The finder includes more than 120 resorts in North America, Europe and South America that are considered "family destinations," meaning that people spend at least a weekend there. The facilities have been reviewed by's own industry experts who average 26 years mountain-travel experience. Think of it as the Michelin of ski resorts. "These are people who have spent their entire careers working in ski," Sherman added. People easily get the "inside scoop" about a resort.

Users are able to select up to five interests from more than a dozen options that include family, budget, terrain types, ski-in/ski-out lodging options, airport proximity, dining, shopping, nightlife and more.

Then, after users select the country, region or state they would like to visit, the resort finder calculates and displays a top resort and up to four other recommended resorts. From there, people can click on them to learn more about it or select up to three resorts for a side-by-side comparison that shows things like current snow reports, skiable acres, a terrain breakdown, vertical drop and more.

"The biggest challenge is to keep the data updated," Sherman says. "Resorts often change." The finder tool is by no means a replacement of a person doing their own research if he or she wants to, he added. It is simply there to help people get an idea of where they may want to go before go through dozens of pages reading up on many possible resorts and then picking one. "This is to narrow down the resort search with a few clicks," Sherman says. "It's a huge time-saver for the ski traveler."
