Ski Smarts: When To Wax
"Before you hit the slopes this weekend, you may ask yourself—to wax or not to wax? This all depends upon the weather conditions for the day. If the snow gets dry and cold, without wax, the skis won't allow for as much glide, but if the snow is clean and full of moisture, you won't need as much. Also watch out for pine needles on the slopes that begin to drop in the spring. If the slope is lined with needles, you'll need more wax to prevent the base of your skis from getting too dirty and sticky, which also reduces glide."
