The NY Surf Film Festival Returns
The New York Surf Film Festival is back for its fifth year, and the official film selections were released last week. This year's event (September 19 and 20 at the NiteHawk Cinema in Brooklyn) will feature 30 international shorts and feature films. To whet your taste (or in case you can't make it), we've got trailers for a few of the feature films we're itching to see.
Promised Land
Promised Land shows how surfing serves as an escape from conflict for locals in Israel. The film features two friends from different faiths who are brought together by their love for the sport.
Here and Now
Here and Now was shot in 24 hours by surfers around the world. It shows snippets of this day-in-the-life of familiar faces including Dave Rastovich, Kelly Slater and Peter Devries.
Through The Whisky Barrel
Through the Whisky Barrel gives viewers a glimpse of the history and the culture of surfing in Scotland. The film hopes to unite the Scottish surfing community and to help raise funds for the Scottish Surf Federation.
