Hike The Flowers

Head out on the Black Canyon trail—a 7-mile hike through the high Washington desert—to check out peaking petals. According to a Washington Trails trip report, wildflowers are just beginning to bloom and should be ablaze within the next two weeks. Don't keep your eyes on the meadows the whole time, though. Gaze up to see roaming elk and deer, who frequent the trail, and gaze out when you hit Umtanum Ridge, around 3.5 miles from the trailhead, to see Kittitas Valley to the northeast and the summits of snowcapped Cascades to the west.
