Lindsey Vonn Will Not Compete In Sochi

Lindsey Vonn's knee is not stable enough for her to compete at the Sochi Olympics, she announced this morning via Facebook.

Vonn tore her ACL last February and reinjured the same knee again in November. Until recently, Vonn planned on making it to Sochi and vying for gold. After reevaluation, she will soon go for surgery.

"[She] is expected to make a full recovery in time for the 2014/15 World Cup season and the 2015 World Alpine Ski Championships in Vail-Beaver Creek," a statement from her publicist said.

There is no question: Vonn is the best female alpine skier in American history. With 59 total wins on the world stage, more than any other skier out there today, she is only four wins away from becoming the most decorated in world history. She will be sorely missed by fans at this year's Olympics.
