Amateur Snowboard Rail Jam Hits Bear Mountain For Finals

If you're a bit nostalgic (or absolutely crushed) over winter coming to an end, you're not alone. Nothing is quite as tragic as putting those boots and boards away for a whopping nine months. But don't make room in your garage just yet; in addition to all the end-of-season parties on the snow, we have another competition.

TransWorld Snowboarding is hosting a North American rail jam tour for average Joes, just like you. The tour has been around for 12 years and has grown quite a bit, this year they've made competition stops at nine mountains and will host finals tomorrow at Bear Mountain in California.

They have the final stop on the 2014 tour set for July 30 at Timberline. You can still register for either of the final two events (including the finals tomorrow), by visiting their webpage here. It's only $15, so why not?

As always, we'll be progressing, trying new things, and having fun. That's what this contest has always been about. We declare winners and it's a good way to get your name out there, but it's really about the camaraderie that builds out of everyone just snowboarding together and having a good time. We give away sweet prizes, play music, and build weird stuff that you might only ride one day in your entire life.

If you want to watch the finals live, they're starting at 1 p.m. If you want to compete, check-in is between 8 and 9:30 a.m., you'll need to attend a meeting at 10:45 a.m. and then the preliminary competition starts at 11 a.m. Finals will run from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. and at 2:15 p.m. awards will be handed out.

The finalists competing tomorrow were the best at each of the previous competitions, winning a trip to Bear Mountain and their spots in the finals. But those competing in the competition for the first time tomorrow still have a chance at winning it all. First-time TransAm competitors will have a shot to prove themselves in the "Traffic Jam," a competition like all the others and the best will go on to finals immediately afterward.
