Chrissy Teigen Shares The Sneaky Ways Celebrities Avoid Public Airport Terminals
In many ways, celebrities like Chrissy Teagan are just like us. She has a family. She enjoys baking and uncovering new recipes. She also loves to travel. Although for famous people living their lives in the public eye, these things can prove to be more difficult in practice than in theory. Stopping for autographs and selfies can add time to anyone's day. But one of the most difficult experiences for very public-facing individuals can be going to airports.
Whether it's paparazzi or over-excited fans with boundary issues, celebrities can have a hard time taking planes with the general public when they want to take a vacation due to being recognized and all the things that come with that. Teigen let her X/Twitter followers in on the secrets of celebrity air travel. The model, TV personality, and mother of John Legend's babies revealed that they get around the usual long lines and delays that you'd typically find in an airport thanks to a completely separate terminal that is reserved for more high-profile clientele. "There is a terminal a mile from the airport that you pay membership for," she said on the social media platform. "They do the same security privately and take you to the plane in a car."
While she didn't specifically name this elevated way to utilize commercial air travel, Teigen is talking about the Private Suite at the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). Now just shortened to PS, this exclusive luxury terminal is also available at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) and will be coming to Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) and Miami International Airport (MIA) in 2024.
It was launched in 2017 by security firm Gavin de Becker & Associates. Their goal was to offer " a unique blend of hospitality, safety, and privacy" by essentially providing a VIP hotel experience to travelers willing to pay to avoid the regular chaos of an airport. And depending on how social you're willing to be while utilizing this service, PS offers two different experiences: the secluded and customizable Private Suites or the more social (yet still extremely exclusive) lounge called The Salon.
Flying the Friendliest Skies
While Teigen covers the basic amenities of this experience in her post, it's important to note that the PS team of agents provides so much more. They handle your baggage both to and from the plane. They also provide private TSA screenings and expedite customs and immigration services. And the team ensures that travelers can enjoy restaurant-quality meals prepared by chefs, who can even package them to-go for travelers in a hurry. If the guest is looking for "maximum comfort with minimum visibility," then this all goes down in a Private Suite that comfortably hosts six people thanks to an entertainment center, fully stocked bar, and ensuite bathroom. Alternatively, if an individual prefers a more social atmosphere before taking off, The Salon is a communal space with equally lavish amenities.
However, you get what you pay for and you will be paying quite a bit for these services. For the All-Access tier, annual membership costs $4,850 and reduces the per-visit rate of private suites, which include up to four guests, spa services, a car wash, and complimentary valet parking for up to 30 days. This can save frequent flyers a significant amount of money, as individual visits without membership are more costly.
For those looking to try the experience ahead of their next flight without committing to an annual membership, single-day visits are available too. They will just set you back $4,850 for a suite or $1,095 for admission into The Salon.
