Weather Smiles On Everest

Everest season officially kicked off weeks ago, but the going has been tough, to say the least—rock falls, medical mishaps, cancelled expeditions and corporate-sponsored teams pulling off of the mountain with safety fears. But for the first time this season, starting today and lasting through May 19, Mother Nature will grace the region with a weather window that should allow teams to reach the summit.

Climbers shouldn't expect much peace and serenity, though. It's expected that as many as 200 people could be racing their way to the top of the crag during these three days.  A few teams will hold out for the next fair-weathered patch.
