Watch The U.S. Open Of Surfing

While most of the world is focused on the London Olympics, the surfers of the world have quietly (or not so quietly) convened in California to kick off the annual U.S. Open of Surfing at the famed Huntington Beach. Running from July 30 to August 5, the excitement surrounding the event is fanatical. As put by Surfing Magazine:

The U.S. Open of Surfing is our religious holiday. It is our Christmas. It is our Hanukah and our Hanukah is here once again! Instead of 8 nights of menorah lighting and communal fried feasts we celebrate 7 days of surf shred (a little skate shred too, for the kiddies) and booze. Instead of dreidels made from clay we have temporary tattoos affixed across nude, tanned flesh. Instead of the recitation of Psalms we have rock n' roll. The U.S. Open of Surfing is the best time of the year. No high holiday can hold a candle it, try as it might. It is a dream. It is heaven.

So go ahead, forget about who won the gold medal in archery or which Olympic cyclist has the biggest thighs and settle into the Cali surf vibes by streaming the action live.
