UPDATED: Watch Surfer Gabriel Medina Nail An INSANE Backflip (Again!)
November 20—Hold up, world. Medina flipped again, and this time, he's hitting Felix Baumgartner heights. Unfortunately, between the Skrillex and the fact that Medina himself produced the video that replays the stunt no fewer than five times, the clip edges on obnoxious. But luckily for the Brazilian, the flip is crazy enough that I'm just going to stick with: wow.
November 14—Backflips make headlines. Like when Kimmy Fasani became the first female snowboarder to land a double backflip in the park and the backcountry. Or when mountain biker Paul Basagoitia stuck the first-ever double backflip on a mountain bike using a natural-terrain takeoff and landing.
Well, add this to the headline list: Gabriel Medina, the Brazilian surfer, just nailed a backflip on Hawaii's North Shore. No, he's not the first to pull off the stunt, but at just 19 years old and a reputation for getting crazy air, I'd put money that there are more backflip headlines in Medina's future.
