VIDEO: Sea Kayaker Gets Close To Whales
The fourth wall is an important concept in nature tourism, for the sake of the animals and the observers.
This sea kayaker gets mighty close to it while watching humpback whales breach off of Cabo San Lucas, at the tip of Baja California, stopping a self-reckoned 40-yards short of becoming a human pancake. There are what look to be chartered boats nearby, but the view from his low-to-the-water oceangoing vessel is truly spectacular.
Dave Maynard, host of TV show Fish the Baja, captured the lucky footage of these semi-airborne giants surprisingly close to shore.
Baja California is known for its whale watching, especially Bahia de Magdalean (Bay of Magdalena) halfway down the peninsula. Canoe & Kayak recently named it one of the best whale watching spots in the world for sea kayakers.
