VIDEO: Ice Climbing In Michigan
When we think about ice climbing in the U.S., it's usually higher elevation zones such as the Rockies. But when temperatures drop in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, some adventurous locals head out to Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore and other areas. At the northern tip of the state, water drips through sandstone features and freezes into gorgeous ice formations.
With an ice climbing season that sometimes lasts from November through May, there is plenty of time to explore the shoreline and low mountains near Lake Superior.
