There's An Outdoor App For That

Keep the freebies rolling: This week, not only can you enjoy free admission to all U.S. national parks, but you can also download any (or all) of Chimani Apps for the Outdoors' 10 national park apps, which normally cost $4.99-$9.99, without forking over a cent.

"Our goal is to reach a million downloads and to encourage just as many people, especially children, to visit our national parks," said Kerry Gallivan, Chimani president, in a press release. "Chimani develops apps for national parks because they are special—and we want to encourage as many people as possible to get out and enjoy them."

The apps, which are available for Apple and Android products, boast features such as complete maps of hiking trails (thankfully available without an internet connection), tide and sunrise/sunset data for the year, a "where am I?" GPS-enabled function to pinpoint your location in the park, continually updated schedules of ranger events, national park news, shuttle bus schedules and more.
