Top Italy Packing Tips From Rick Steves' Tour Guide
By BRIE SCHMIDT
Sarah Murdoch knows Italy incredibly well as a tour guide and writer for European travel expert Rick Steves, and she has become a pro at packing for its Mediterranean climate.
In an interview with Italy Magazine, Murdoch suggested packing nice clothes and a few stylish accessories. She explained, "Italians in general dress a lot more formally
every day."
She also says to embrace layers, such as throwing a nice shirt over a sleeveless top or adding a scarf. "Small details like that make a world of difference," she revealed.
To fit all her outfits into a small carry-on, Murdoch selects multiple lightweight garments that go together, often starting with a color scheme and including versatile neutrals.
She may center her outfits on a scarf since they’re a staple Italian item. "I also bring jewelry with me because I'm in Italy a lot and here you should accessorize," she noted.
