Regardless of the season, Sand Harbor State Park on the eastern shore of Lake Tahoe is an exceptional place to relax, make memories, and immerse yourself in the great outdoors.
Lake Tahoe is one of the biggest lakes in the U.S. and the largest alpine lake in North America. It has crystal-clear turquoise water and unique rock formations.
In the summer, Lake Tahoe offers phenomenal swimming, kayaking, scuba diving, and stand-up paddle boarding opportunities. The park also provides boat ramps.
Mountain bikers in the park have easy access to Tahoe's scenic East Shore Trail. After your ride, enjoy a relaxing meal at one of the park's picnic tables and BBQ areas.
If the natural beauty beckons you to stay, camp under the stars at nearby sites like Camp Richardson or Nevada Beach Campground.
Sand Harbor State Park also has exhilarating winter sports such as skiing, snowboarding, and ice skating. For something less demanding, embark on serene cross-country skiing trails.
The charming Heavenly Ice Rink is surrounded by plenty of cafes and restaurants for you to grab a hot cocoa or soup to warm up after your skating session.
Indulge in a magical sleigh ride driven by horses. The open carriage glides along the park's expansive blue waters and through its enchanting winter landscape.
