Take The Ultimate East Coast Road Trip On This Scenic Route

New York City is the perfect place to begin your road trip, as there are tons of major international airports and car rental locations in the city.
NYC To Atlantic City
The drive from New York to Atlantic City on the Jersey Shore takes just over two hours. Spend a night in Atlantic City exploring the boardwalk and trying your luck at some casinos.
After the hustle and bustle of the city, Ocracoke Island, off the coast of North Carolina, is the perfect beach destination. Getting there will take around 10 hours.

The island is only 16 miles long, and you'll have the opportunity to take in historical landmarks, learn plenty of local legends, and visit cute shops with local artisan goods.
Next, drive about nine hours to Charleston, South Carolina, where you can explore art museums, watch theater, view historic architecture, and try Southern cuisine.

If you're looking for more beach time and less urban exploration, head to nearby Folly Beach, an adorable beach just over 20 minutes from downtown Charleston.
After Charleston, take a two-hour drive to Savannah, Georgia, which has streets draped in Spanish moss, beautiful architecture, and a thriving arts scene.

Consider taking a hop-on, hop-off trolley tour, which will take you by all the significant landmarks. Afterward, walk down its famous River Street and admire the views.
Key West, Florida, is about a 10-hour drive from Savannah. As one of the most enchanting beach communities in the U.S., there are many adventurous things to do there.
