Simple Ways To Use Uber Safely During Your Family Vacation
By NICOLE CORD-CRUZ
While you should always check your ride to verify that the driver's information matches the app, Uber has many features to guarantee safety when traveling with family.
Create an Uber family profile, which allows you to add multiple members who use the same payment method and monitor ride locations when someone books a ride.
Family Profile
Head to Settings, click Family, and select Add Member. You can add up to 10 members, including 13 to 17-year-olds, who can safely book their own ride using their device.
In some cities, Uber offers wheelchair accessibility and car seats. Before booking, simply select the WAV option so it matches you to qualified drivers.
Wheelchair & Car Seat
For children, Uber has a car seat option that matches families to vehicles equipped with a forward-facing car seat. A $10 surcharge is added to the cost, and it is limited to NYC.
Familiarize yourself with Ridecheck, an in-app feature triggered when Uber detects something has gone awry. It pops up if you are stuck or have been in an accident.
RideCheck
To guarantee passenger safety, RideCheck is available to the rider and driver, and both parties can select from a list of options the kind of assistance they need.
