Prepare For Flight Cancellations With These Genius TikTok Tips
By NICOLE CORD-CRUZ
Instead of being at the mercy of airlines when it comes to flight cancellations, TikTok users have shared invaluable tips so you can be compensated for the inconvenience.
According to user @erikakullberg, a Department of Transportation (DOT) law states that passengers are entitled to a full refund if they decide not to travel after a cancelation.
Even non-refundable ticket holders may recoup what they've paid for their flight, provided that the airline canceled the flight entirely or you get the airline to agree to it.
User @tinytraveler suggests booking your flights using a credit card that offers travel protection, such as the Chase Sapphire Reserve card or American Express Platinum card.
The caveat with this is that reimbursements are not usually automatic. Cardholders have to file a claim online to receive compensation, so be sure to keep all your receipts.
User @yourrichbff encourages travelers to use the DOT's airline cancelation and delay dashboard, which outlines what airlines promise you when your flights get canceled or delayed.
