Keep Bugs Away From Your Campsite With This Alcoholic Beverage
By LEXI KASSLER
While it’s a go to drink to have around a campfire, whiskey can be also used as an insect repellent. If you've forgotten bug spray, whiskey can definitely do the job in a pinch.
In a spray bottle, mix a teaspoon of whiskey and a cup of water, diluting further if the smell is too strong. If you don't have a spray bottle, make small holes in a water bottle.
The bugs have a strong sense of smell, so you don't need a lot of whiskey to keep them away. Aim for one with no added sugars, as this can have the reverse effect and attract bugs.
