Enjoy Clear Water Swimming Spots At This Australian National Park
By LAURA JONES
Some of Australia's best swimming spots are oases in the Outback, and at Elsey National Park, visitors can bathe in crystal-clear hot springs surrounded by lush bush vegetation.
The water remains a delightful 93 degrees Fahrenheit year-round in both hot springs, though they do close in the wet season. They are both in tropical woodland areas.
You can access Mataranka Thermal Pool via Mataranka Homestead, which offers onsite campsites, cabins, and motel rooms, which can feel a bit commercialized.
On the other hand, Bitter Springs has been left almost entirely to nature, and freshwater turtles often visit. The only additions are the stairs to get in and out of the pool.
Elsey is an outdoor lover's paradise, with walking, camping, and fishing areas. If you want to stay overnight, Jalmurark Campground offers luxury camping with a rustic feel.
