Best Beer Cities To Visit In The US
By CARLIE HOKE
Pre-Prohibition, Cincinnati was the beer capital of the world. Today, the city is a great option for beer drinkers who love a little history with their pint.
Cincinnati, OH
There are over 80 breweries in the Cincinnati area, but some stand out more than others, like MadTree Brewing Company, Rhinegeist, and Dead Low Brewing.
MadTree is eco-conscious, crafts beer ethically, gives back to the community, and makes conservation efforts. Their taphouse is located in a renovated airplane hangar.
Dead Low Brewing is a low-key, dog and child-friendly brewery, while Rhinegeist patrons can enjoy a beer in the taproom or up on the rooftop.
Being one of the top 10 cities with the most breweries per capita, you could throw a stone on any Portland street and hit a brewery.
Portland, OR
Breakside Brewery and Great Notion Brewing are front-runner breweries with great beers, while Belmont Station and Apex are great beer bars to patronize.
Great Notion has artfully illustrated brews with a fruity hop taste, and Breakside Brewery is an award-winning brewery as one of the only employee-owned breweries in the country.
Belmont Station offers over a thousand bottle and can beer options, some of which are local to Oregon, while Apex has 50 rotating beers on tap, available to go in a mason jar.
Richmond is home to over 30 local breweries, and locals have a particular love for Pabst Blue Ribbon — so much so that they call PBR the "People's Beer of Richmond."
Richmond, VA
The Scott’s Addition neighborhood has breweries like The Veil, Väsen, Ardent, Strangeways, and entertaining beer joints like the Bingo Beer Company and Circuit, an arcade bar.
If Richmond being on its beer game isn't enough, only an hour away is Charlottesville, another college town with its own Ale Trail that makes for a fun day trip.
The brewers of Wynkoop Brewing Company in Denver have been making beer for almost 40 years, and their various types of brews incorporate flavors you would never expect.
Denver, CO
Denver is also home to the famous Blue Moon Brewing Company, a domestic brewery where you can visit, tour, and indulge in brews exclusive to its OG Denver location.
Besides being a killer place atmosphere-wise, the beer you can find in Asheville, North Carolina makes it a place worth visiting.
Asheville, NC
New Belgium Brewing's Fat Tire is the first-ever carbon-neutral beer, and family-owned Highland Brewing was the first brewery in Asheville after prohibition.
Burial Beer Co. is a macabre brewery and DSSOLVR gets weird with its brand and beers. The uniqueness of each brewery makes for two very fun visits.
