Avoid Making These Mistakes On Your Next Flight
By BLAKE TAYLOR
Spontaneous trips are sometimes necessary, but booking your flight at least a few weeks in advance can save a lot of money on airfare.
Last Minute Bookings
Check multiple vendors before purchasing your tickets, as sometimes the same seat on the same flight costs different amounts of money, depending on the website selling the ticket.
If you only have a carry-on bag or a personal item, you can check in for your flight online and get your tickets at home, saving valuable time at the airport.
Airport Check In
Download your airline's app and check in the day before your flight. Your ticket will appear within the app and be accessible anytime, so you won't need to print your ticket.
Make a physical note of your parking lot name and row number, take a picture, or drop a pin at your car's location to easily find it when you return.
Parking
Before traveling, ensure your I.D. isn't expired as early as possible. Double-check that your I.D. is with you before heading out the door for the airport.
Valid Identification
As of May 7, 2025, travelers in the U.S. will need a new type of identification called a Real I.D. to fly domestically. Register for it when you renew your driver's license.
Any liquid must be no more than 3.4 ounces per container when traveling on an airplane. Either bring travel-sized toiletries or buy them at your destination.
Liquids And Creams
TSA will require you to throw out full or even partially-filled water bottles before going through security. Bring an empty bottle to fill up after you've gone through security.
