Lindsey Vonn Released From Hospital, Still Not Skiing
Four-time World Cup skiing champion Lindsey Vonn was released from a Colorado hospital on Wednesday after being admitted two days earlier for intense intestinal pain. Though doctors are still working to determine the cause of her illness, according to Vonn's publicist, the skier has responded well to treatments.
That doesn't mean that she's out of the woods, though.
Heinz Haemmerle, Vonn's ski technician, told the AP on Tuesday that the 28-year-old had been to the hospital at least two times in the past week and "has pain all over her body and that her bones are hurting." He also reported that she has not trained since the second run of the season-opening giant slalom on Oct. 27 in Soelden, Austria, in which Vonn crashed out.
Vonn is next scheduled to hit the giant slalom and slalom in Aspen on November 24 to 25, shortly followed by speed trials at Lake Louise, Alberta—her favorite and most dominant stop on the circuit (sometimes called "Lake Lindsey" in her honor) where she had recently requested, and was denied, the chance to compete in the men's race.
Currently resting "comfortably" at home, there's no word yet on when Vonn will return to the slopes.
