Humanity.TV Aims To Redesign Travel Content

A new organization called Humanity.TV aims to revolutionize travel media through interactive tablet features that include short documentaries, photo essays and–perhaps most importantly–stories by locals from each country.

The founders of the company, Kerrin Sheldon and Gaston Blanchet, are two self-taught filmmakers who left their jobs in New York City to travel the world and record the first Humanity.TV stories about fascinating locals for their website. The duo found some great characters, including a karate champion who helps fight sex trafficking in India and a cluster bomb survivor in Laos. Their work brings a face and a personal story to each culture and to issues abroad.

In 2013, the company hopes to make some big steps forward, according to its Kickstarter website. They will add two more filmmaking teams to their crew and will focus on distributing cameras to locals who can share their own stories and views on their countries, cities and culture.

Subscribers will receive new features every month that include three or four short documentaries, community-created content, photo essays and other editorial additions.
