Have 1.5 Billion Dollars? Now, You Can Travel To The Moon
Want to go to the moon? Duh. Well, if you've got $1.5 billion lying around, now you can! A team of former NASA execs is launching a private company called Golden Spike that can send you to that big ball of cheese in the sky.
"We're kind of cleaning up what NASA did in the 1960s. We're going to make a commodity of it in the 2020s," said Alan Stern, former NASA associate administrator and president of Golden Spike.
Since the U.S. is the only country to have landed people on the moon, and that was 40 years ago, the company wants to tap into other countries such as South Africa, South Korea and Japan.
"It's not about being first. It's about joining the club," Stern said.
Golden Spike hopes to have the first launch before the end of this decade—and then shuttle 15 to 20 loads before they call it quits.
