Float A River
The Guadalupe River near Canyon Lake, TX, was one of the earliest-explored Texan rivers—and now it's one of the most-often tubed. For good reason: With clear water, scenic views and cool water on a hot Southern day—not to mention plenty of other tubers (and we're not talking potatoes here) to befriend—the Guadalupe floats lazily over a 20-mile section between the Canyon Lake Dam and New Braunfels. Check out one of more than two dozen outfitters along the banks who will graciously rent you a tube (or canoe, kayak or raft, if you prefer) and shuttle you from the end point back to the beginning.
