Copp-Dash Award Will Help Fund Alpine-Style Adventures
The Copp-Dash Inspire Award is accepting applications through Dec. 31 for small climbing teams who want to creatively capture and share their fast and light alpine climbing expeditions.
The award was created to honor American climbers Jonny Copp and Micah Dash, and filmmaker Wade Johnson. The team died in an avalanche in May 2009 while attempting a climb on Mt. Edgar in the Western Sichuan Province of China.
The award will provide $20,000 in 2013 to select North American climbing teams with the goal of helping climbers pursue their adventures and share them with a wider audience. The money will go toward the support of climbers before, during and after expeditions and for multimedia instruction.
To be eligible, your expedition must occur between Apr. 1, 2013 and March 31, 2014. The winners will be announced by March 30, 2013.
Sponsors include Black Diamond Equipment, La Sportiva, Mountain Hardwear, and Patagonia, with support from the Jonny Copp Foundation, American Alpine Club and Sender Films.
