Brilliant Cartoon: The 21st Century Skier
For decades, skiing often meant discomfort or inconvenience. Gear was bulky, food reheated, extremities numb. While frigid winds still blow here and there, technology has managed to mitigate other annoyances, from flapping lift tickets to icy sidewalks. Below, an imaginary day at an up-to-the-minute ski resort. Many resorts have some of the perks and gadgets; all are available at Vail for its 50th-anniversary season this year.
